The village Takagachh, behind the Cooch Behar Palace, stands to the north-west of Cooch
Behar Township. The old course of River Torsha (Known as Mara Torsha) has bifurcated this village from the Cooch Behar town.
A Large area of this village has been eroded by the river Torsha. The inhabitants are Rajbansi, Mushlim and Refuge(Migrated
from East Pakisthan). Thus a Mix culture can be found out in this village.But the village has a rich culture haritage of amity.
A group of thirty five women has organised themselves under the banner of "SANKALPA"
means "DEDICATION" and made preparation of the Durga Puja since 1996 as the first women organized Durga Puja in Cooch Behar
District.
